Pete has been working in penal institutions since 2001 when he was Artist in Residence at HMP Birmingham for 3 months as part of the Arts Council's 'Year of the Artist'. Since then he has worked regularly with juvenile and young offenders, in remand centres and secure psychiatric clinics. Since 2014 he has been working with Choirs Beating Time a charity who runs choirs in prisons, aiming to improve self-confidence, improve mental heath and wellbeing, develop social skills and enhance employability on release. He currently leads choirs in three Midlands prisons.
